Tadpole Hunting

While Myron was having a late nap, the two older boys wanted to go to the park.

Their intention was to go do some digging at the sandy area (normally used to play football by the others) but I opted one mess for another.
I suggested we go tadpole hunting instead.

It was already cloudy and the wind was rolling more clouds in, so we made as quick a trip as we could.
We walked as quickly as we could, Mommy, at least.
Of course the boys ran rather than walked quickly, and so Mommy ended up doing a speed-walk and some hollering at the same time: "Keep to the path", "Don't pick that up, it's dirty", "Look out for ants", "Look where you're going. Don't walk backwards", etc.

We surveyed some fish ponds, but it had no tadpoles.
It was also rather dangerous as the boys kept leaning over the edge. The water's murky and I hear it is quite deep.

So we headed to an abandoned fountain area (Not exactly abandoned, but rather they fountains are "out of order" or never turned on as far as we know). Here the tadpoles were an "easy pick".

So here's our "catch of the day".

Hair-cut Day

Monday was the day we went to the hair dresser.
It was good timing as the boys have no school, and being a Monday morning, there was no crowd.

Max is the one who hates going to have a haircut.

Both the boys had a haircut before Christmas last year. It was good timing as it made them look nice during Chinese New Year.

Micah had one a month after Chinese New year, but Max skipped that.

Then in June, we took Myron for a shave, and Micah had a trim too.
Max skipped that as well.

So finally we insisted it was time he had a hair cut.
It was either to our hairdresser, Aunty Chui Lin or to the Indian Barber*,
Max chose Aunty Chui Lin.

So here are the two boys, clowning around while waiting for the hair dresser to come (we were her first customer of the day).

After the hair cut.

And here's Myron before his shave,

... during,

... and after.

Don't they look so nice and clean?

:)

* If we had gone to the Indian barber, I would have asked for a crew cut for Max. Then he only needs to worry about another haircut like... after Christmas.

A Mother's Watch

Myron has a temperature.

It's not high enough to register as fever on the digital thermometer, but he is pretty warm to the touch. 37.4 was his highest reading. Grandma said he has had a fright*, but it could also be that he is just teething.

Between midnight and 4am he was moaning in his sleep quite a bit, requiring Mommy to either nurse him, or pick him up to pat him, if he refused to nurse.

4am.
Max woke up.
I think he was dreaming of transformers, because that's what he started talking about.

Apart from that, he also busied himself with buttoning and unbuttoning his pajama shirt. He sure picked a swell time for some fine-motor skill practise.

5am.
Myron had had one more feed and his temperature had obviously come down a little (obvious to the touch, sparing the sleeping baby a beep at his ear).

Max kept asking if it's morning yet and wants to start playing with his toys.

Mommy's now sitting at the computer, but keeps telling him to lie down in bed and make himself sleep, but he is still whispering to himself, quoting bits and pieces of the script from a show (I think it's Transformers).

Now, if I am to get back to sleep, I am quite certain I will find it really hard to wake up in time to get the boys ready for school...

Myron "making noise" in his sleep again...
Gotta go check on him.

Btw,
This is Myron's new teether...

And here's Myron in action:

Have a good day.

* It's a common Asian belief to say that a child who had had a fright/ traumatised to develop fever as well as nightmares, resulting in restless sleep and loss of appetite.

Kids' Krazy Kuote

Funny quotes from my boys today:

Micah, after playing with Myron:
Mom, when I am big enough, I want to have a trillion babies.

Max when called for Brush-teeth time:
But, mom, Transformers don't brush their teeth.

Transformers

We finally got to watch Transformers 2 in the cinema with the 2 big boys.

They behaved quite well.

Micah sat through the whole show, of which, 2/3 of the show he sat on Gadget-daddy's lap. I suppose it was a bit cold, but it was also for comfort and to have his questions whispered and answered.

Max sat on my lap, but also did a bit of a walking up and down the stairs by the side (we sat next to the aisle).

All in all, we enjoyed the show.

After the show, Gadget-daddy sent me back and took them to the toy shop. These are the "spoilts" they came back with:

But that did not deter Micah from constructions of other kind. In fact, Max was the one more interested in the cars, and Micah spent the whole night building a plane.

It was a great day which ended with a visit from Ah Ma, Ee-ee and Ah Ku.

Funny Max

Max made us laugh the other day.

First, he acted a little fishy when he came down the stairs with his hands behind his back. I asked him what he was hiding, and he sheepishly showed me a diaper he had taken out from Myron's bag of diapers.

After questioning his intention, I smiled, struggling to not giggle, and got him an "empty"* diaper.

And this was what his "bright idea" was:

Max, you are so funny and so cute!
Love you, darling.

* The "empty" diaper was introduced by an aunt who pulled out the filling of a used diaper (the valcro strap kind, and not poo-ed on of course), washed it and then uses it as a cover for holding up cloth nappies. safer and more convenient than a safety pin!

Clicking The Kids

Here are some shots of my three darlings together.

They do this now and then, but most of the time Mommy's without a camera. I finally decided these precious moments should not go unrecorded.

Free play on the bed:

Posing for the camera.
