Ah Ma's House

When we visit Ah Ma, the boys always have a great time in her garden.

This is the house I grew up in. We moved from a flat right in the heart of Bukit Bintang to this lovely corner house when I was 6. We have played catch, hop-scotch, football, badminton and hula-hoops in the garden. We cycled, played in the rain, played in sand and played with cats, dogs, guinea-pigs and chickens here. There was even once, I was maybe 7 then, we housed 7 dogs and 18 puppies!

So Micah and Max have another safe place to run and play and get dirty. And I mean dirty: They like to bounce on Ah Ma's bed till all sweaty, ride on a cane rocking horse or the dogs; dig for earth worms or play with the water hose; run in circles barefooted or roll on the car porch with the dogs; pick up stones, dried leaves, or small coconuts and play masak-masak (cooking) using the dog dish and trowel. So at the end of a busy morning, part of the amusement there is also taking a bath in a blue tub before going home. The boys usually fall asleep on the way back so we make sure they are clean before they are dragged into the car. Good-bye to Ah Ma is a 20 minute exercise!

This trip, we plucked coconuts to have some fresh coconut water to drink. Grandma was really creative. She made a horn using the coconut leaves. It really sounds like those you get in a party pack. It was much to Micah's delight. He loves making noise!

We love to play at Ah Ma's house.

Sure! Come if you don't mind your kid getting dirty. I let them do all kinds of stuff there that their OCD grandpa would freak out immediately.
